Hi! I’m Michelle, you can call me “Meesh” if you want. Seems to be a nickname I picked up over the years. A little about me: I am born and raised in NJ, I’m from an Italian family so I love cheese and bread. I have two degrees, I run a small business in Newark. I LOVE animals (I have six—don’t judge me lol). I’m sarcastic and I love puns!
I was quite an unhealthy individual many years ago. I started CrossFit in July of 2014, so coming up on four years. I smoked and drank a lot. About one year in I decided to quit smoking. Then I decided to try and get my diet in order. That was tough! For the last two and a half years I’ve been doing RP and counting my macros, before that I did strict paleo. I had blood work done to gauge where I was at and it was not good. On the brink of diabetes, high cholesterol and triglycerides and a candidate for hypothyroidism. Scared the crap out of me and I made a change, and I’ve never looked back. Ever since I’ve been very serious about my physical wellbeing and the wellbeing of others. I think movement is one of the most important things in life and so many neglect it, and take it for granted. I want to be the best version of me that I can be.
I love weightlifting (power/Olympic), strong(wo)man stuff and yoga. I enjoy obstacle course races and do several throughout the summer. I love a challenge and seeing what I’m capable of. You never know until you try. I always want to be better at something. There is always something to try!
I taught myself a lot and got my L1 cert to be able to help others achieve their goals. Sometimes we all need a little push. People have been coming to me for guidance between diet/lifestyle/exercise and I thought the next step was to search for a place to become a Coach. I was lucky enough to come into Barbending and I am looking forward to motivating and pushing you all to achieve your goals however possible.
